I’ve used the Sweet Mandarin blackbean sauce to cook stir fry beef and it’s just like the real thing in the restaurant. Perfect as it’s not too salty and best thing is no msg too. I also tried it on Tofu and it was very delicious. A Must for the storecupboard. (hide)

SWEET MANDARIN BLACKBEAN CHINESE SAUCES

A tried and tested family recipe passed down from my grandmother Lily Kwok then to my dad the “General” and now to me at Sweet Mandarin serving many generations of Chinese foodie lovers. I remember first cooking my blackbean dish for this customer called Bill who said i’ve not had a Chinese in over 8 years since i’ve been diagnosed. Since trying our Blackbean sauce he has brought his entire family and extended family to Sweet Mandarin and when he goes away to Spain he will always bring his favourite sauce with him to replicate his Chinese fix. Awe Sweet !

LISA’S RECIPE

1 x Sweet Mandarin Blackbean Sauce

1 x Gluten Free Pasta

1 x 150g minced beef

1 x small onion diced

1 x garlic clove

3 tbsp water

METHOD

  1. Blanch the pasta till soft or to your liking ie al dente.
  2. In a medium – large wok add in 1 tbsp of vegetable oil.
  3. Fry the onions and garlic for 1-2 minutes
  4. Add in the minced beef and stir till cooked fully
  5. Add in the blanched pasta
  6. Add in Sweet Mandarin Blackbean Sauce
  7. Stir for 5-8 minutes till piping hot
  8. Serve the family and goes great with a glass of gluten free beer! Yum-O

LISA’S TIP

An alternative for a Meat Free Meal would be aubergine / eggplant or chickpeas with carrots, peas and tofu.
